The Department of Assamese has been started from the very beginning of the college, on the 30th Nov. 1983. The Department of Assamese initially was served by Dr. Minati Sarma who provided valuable service during the starting period of the Department.

The main objectives of the Department is to impart quality education related to the Assamese Language and Commerce Education from Higher Secondary to degree courses respectively. Presently following faculty members are serving in the department.
